Celebrate Something!

In his book, When Answers Aren’t Enough, Matt Rogers says, “We don’t need to wait for a holiday in order to celebrate.  Any day will do.”

I like this.  Why not pick something each day to celebrate?  Can it hurt?  Seems to me if nothing else it can put things in perspective.  If every day we choose one thing to celebrate then maybe we’ll begin to see all that we have instead of all that we don’t have.

Today I choose to celebrate my husband.  He is a wonderful man who I’ve known and loved for 20 years.  He is the yin to my yang, the black to my white, the chocolate to my peanut butter.  Simply put, he is one cool dude.

Prior to meeting Fred my relationships were pretty much superficial at best.  They were definitely not in my best interests but hey, I was young and stupid.  You live and learn and I learned a lot about what I didn’t want in a relationship.  I also learned not to be so stupid.  🙂  The jury is still out on this one but at least I got it right with Fred.

Fred and I met at work and yes, we had one of those office romances.  We went out to dinner and then shortly after we attended the company Christmas party together.  The rest is history.  And what a history it’s been!  I can’t wait to see what the future will bring.

Fred is funny.  He makes me laugh.  He’s quiet too and a little bit shy.  He is kind-hearted, laid back, intelligent…he loves dogs and he loves me (not necessarily in that order.)  He can fix just about anything.  If he can’t fix it he finds a way to fix it.  If it’s unfixable he fixes it anyway.  I have no idea how it does it without employing my method of a hammer and duct tape.

Fred indulges me in my quest for my next big crafty project, my love of techie toys, my total failure at dog fostering 101 thus keeping nearly every single dog that’s come through our door, not to mention all my various, numerous, mountainous quirks.  Loving me is a dirty job but somebody has to do it.

I’m blessed and today I celebrate the person who has filled my life in every way possible.

What are you celebrating today?
